RunningWorks Cross Country Camp: Recreation at Camp Canadensis, 2009
There are two runs a day at RunningWorks but there is always time for an impromptu game of
frisbee, cards, volleyball, ga ga, or kickball. And then there are several pools for swimming,
and the lake for kayaking and boating. There are even Seinfeld re-runs at the camp cinema! In
addition, there are three special activities: the new "Scavenger Hunt," our signature Trivia Night,
and the final night's Dance Social! And for those who want some "quiet time" for reading or just
thinking, or just "hanging out" with new and old friends, that's available too.
General Social Activities

The inaugural Scavenger Hunt required cabin groups to accomplish a dozen or so tasks to
win the game and the RunningWorks Shoe Bags! Telling a joke that would make Coach O'Sullivan
laugh proved harder than many expected; and some of the guys forgot that there was a Mrs.
Torello when they were asked to "kiss Torello's head," but the most challenging task was to acquire
a lock of Hugo Beemish's flowing hair! The winning cabin -- see their picture below -- beat the
others by a slim margin and took home their prizes!

. . . and then there's "Trivia Night," a joyously raucus and enthusiastic time,
hysterically funny, when cabin groups team-up, dress with whatever is on hand
to reflect a theme, and compete against other cabin groups for Nike and RunningWorks prizes!
Coach Callinan did another great job on the questions, making it one of the
most challenging sessions on record! Check out the pictures and see if you can find the
"trivia" and "theme" award-winners!

And, finally, there's the Dance Social! On the last night, two hours of loud music, singing, and
dancing -- amazing, all that running and drilling but there's still enough energy to dance!
Nike was there too, passing out ten pairs of Nike racing shoes and other merchandise! Not many good
pictures though -- lots of orange red-eye stuff -- because that old barn is dark!
